Last Christmas fling.

Well I hope everyone had a peaceful Christmas. I finished this block on Christmas eve, the weather has been dark, dreary and wet. Not the best conditions for photo taking.

I'm hoping to set these blocks in a skirt for a smaller Christmas tree.

I wish everyone a healthy and happy 2021.

All Wrapped Up for Another Year

Merry Christmas fellow Elves ... it's almost time.  I finished this wall hanging off on the weekend, wrapped it and gifted it at our local Patchwork Group Christmas Breakup.

Have you put the last stitch in your Christmas Gifts and tied the bows just right?  Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and hoping you are able to be with loved ones after this crazy year.

The 1 Xmas Item A Month blog will remain open for 2021 and I do hope you are able to continue to contribute posts as you prepare for the new year ahead.  I sadly haven't been able to put as much time in here as I would have liked to but am more than happy to keep the door open on our merry little workshop.

Mickey's Playhouse (Table Cover)

I finished up my last Christmas gift of the year!
I know it's not the 25th but I wanted to get this
posted before things get too busy.

Our grandkids love Mickey Mouse so I decided to
make them a fabric playhouse that fits right over
their dining table.  Above it is displayed on our table
which is smaller so the fit isn't right but you get the
idea.   My daughter just got a new IKEA table so I
was able to look up the exact measurements
from their website.

The letters, flowers and Mickey Mouse shapes
are all appliqued.  On each side of the clubhouse
is a "window" made out of clear vinyl.  The front
door curtains are pulled back by ties with velcro.

I'm thinking this should be a great way to keep the
kids occupied when mom is working in the kitchen.

A clubhouse but it can be folded up and put away!

Merry Christmas to all and happy quilting!

Oh so late.

This is a very late November post rather than an early December one. We are back home after the builders finished and trying t get to grips with the new technology of remote controls for the central heating.

Here is the little Christmas embroidery, not the best photo due to the seasonal weather in the u.k.

The colours are the shaded green, metallic green, gold thread and red.

I did finish month five of the Lucy Boston blocks, I'm not sure I will get month six finished in December as we have the house to put back to normal.

Christmas trees are up and outside lights to combat the shorter daylight hours.

Happy sewing

One Month and Counting

Ho Ho Ho fellow Elves ... we're down to the 1 month mark but I'm sure I don't have to tell anyone that. As this year of 2020 comes to the finale, let us continue to share our support, friendship and thoughts of wellbeing with one and all.

I have had the good luck to find a little extra time over the last week and managed not 1 but 2 completed quilt tops.  The first is "A Merry Christmas Garden" that I have worked on each month this year.  Without this little group sewing beside me, I'm sure I would have put it 'away' for another day, so Thank You! Not the best photos outside in the wind.

The second top is "Mother Goose" by Kookaburra Cottage.  Not a Christmas Gift, this is for Grandson number 4 who will turn 1 early January.

Hoping everyone will be able to re-unite with loved ones very soon and make new memories to cherish.

On a RoLL

 Another gift this month... yippee...
A  CuTe 12inch MiNi...

Thanks Narelle...

Campground Pennant Banner

Things get a little busy for me over the summer
with the gardening and all but I'm finally back
with a gift finish!

I made this pennant banner for my brother and his
wife who recently purchased a retro camper.  The
pennants to the left (flipped over) show their last
name (as in:  "Smith Campground").

I put batting inside for weight and stability.
I was hoping this would make a dent in my mountain
of batting scraps but no...not really.  Darn it!
But I am proud of the fact that the entire project
was made with things on hand.

The edges are unfinished but pinked.

Now to wrap it and get it in the mail.
Only one more homemade gift left to make but
I'm almost done with it, too, and I'm excited to
share it next month--it's a big one!

Happy Thanksgiving and happy quilting!

As I've shown the "bucket bag" on my blog... I thought I would add it to this blog today albeit a little early in the month.
It's a gift this Christmas BuT the owner-to-be won't see it.

Thanks Narelle... for another successful gift ready for Dec 25th.

Running Late For An Early October

 Greetings fellow Elves

I had such a great start to October and managed to not only finish the 6th and final block for A Merry Christmas Garden but also join the 6 blocks together. Then with everything else happing in double time, my post to the blog was forgotten.  So here is my "Early" finish posted late.

Photo taken 18th October

My plan is to get the borders on for November and then the finished top will need to wait in line for quilting, hopefully ready for 2021.

Not long now my lovely friends, I do hope your gift boxes are starting to look a lot like Christmas.

Back in the Swing of Things--Kind of

I was so excited when I originally found this group.  I love working on Christmas items year round.  But Covid settled in and I am not sure where my Christmas mojo went.  Most of my items are make for Church Christmas Boutiques.  But all of that has been cancelled at least for this year.  But I am back in the holiday spirit and started a mystery Christmas Quilt.  Here are two of the blocks.  I have 10 more to go!

QUILTS, QUILTS AND MORE QUILTS.....

I'm doing the UFO Number Draw Challenge hosted over Dreamworthy Quilts.  The number for November is 3...I'll be working on my Jar Quilt...This also my OMG quilt for November.

It's all done, just needs to be sandwiched, tied and binding added.

I've finished the Scarecrow Santa for my Christmas Sample.

And I finished the scarecrow for my Fall Sampler.

I've also been working on my April RSC blocks...the color for April is Light Blue.  I've got one done.

What are your doing with your Sunday???  Hop over and see what everyone else is doing.

I'm linking up with:

31st Oct 2020

Wow, I'm running late this month. We are having our central heating boiler replaced and moved next month, so I'm busy packing lots of the house ready for the disruption before we move out whilst it happens. Of course we might be back in lockdown before then.

Another Love and Hugs design. I can't find some of the patterns I printed out. I must have put them in that elusive safe place.

I have found time to relax in the evenings and another batch of Lucy Boston blocks are finished.

I'm not sure if I will be able to post next month but will be sewing some more Hugs and Kisses if I find them.

Happy sewing.

September Christmas block.

I did intend posting the pictures for September yesterday, I somehow got diverted into tidying my craft room, of course it now looks worse as I found all sorts of projects.

Here is the next little block. I added gold thread for the star and tree decorations.

I have finished another month of EPP blocks.

These I'm still finding addictive.

Unfortunately due to covid restrictions and self care I have not been shopping to get the finishing fabric and embellishments for my earlier Christmas felt blocks.

I might just look through my stash for fabric etc. to finish them.

My allotment is productive this year but with the weather now colder and wetter autumn has certainly arrived.

Happy sewing.

PS I'm enjoying sewing whilst watching Australian Supercars. I'm looking forward to Bathurst in October.

I managed two items this month... yippeeeee....

August Mini Christmas make

I have not made as many of the great Love and Hugs for Christmas blocks as I'd hoped.  This is one of my favourites though.

I have been distracted by making more Lucy Boston Blocks, here are a few more.

The liberty fabrics are lovely to sew with. I'm already cutting out more blocks for the next month.

My allotment is either baked hard or sodden.  We are definitely heading into autumn.

Stay safe and happy sewing to all.

Another block wrapped up and 1 left to go for my Merry Christmas Garden....It's the heart block with candy canes.

I can now see me having a finished quilt top for THIS Christmas and another quilt to add to "Awaiting Quilting" stash.

Winter/Christmas Crazy Quilt Progress July 2020

Hi all! My goal in January was to finish quilting the borders of my Winter/Christmas Crazy Quilt with snowflakes.

As much as I love the way the snowflakes look, stitching them became a chore.  So, I have been procrastinating.

The photo above shows how it looked on January 1st.

The blocks were embellished in a crazy quilting round robin that began in 2013 and ended in 2014. It is definitely time to finish this project up!

In February, I added a couple of small snowflakes. This month, I finished embroidering about half of the strip in the center (with the waste canvas) and center strip on the far right.

I still need to add beads to most of these snowflakes.

There are several small Christmas projects I am itching to work on, but I am determined to finish this project first. I hope to have far more progress to share in August!

Happy crafting everyone!

Winners and Wrapping Up June

Wow!  This year is really flying by.  I do hope that in these uncertain times that you, your nearest and dearest are staying safe and well.  As I have mentioned, DD, SIL and grandsons P and F are staying with us which has been wonderful having them around and also crazy busy times.

WINNERS  I had planned a lucky draw each quarter and have been slack in my follow through so tonight was a double draw.  I wrote names on tickets for each month you posted a make and placed them in a container. Tben asked my daughter to draw a name for the Jan Feb Mar quarter and repeated for the Apr May June quarter.

1st quarter lucky draw goes to:    Cheryll

2nd quarter lucky draw goes to:    Alcea Rosea - Josie

Congratulations, I will be in touch to send a little something your way.

Ooops!  Scrolling down and I noticed I never got around to posting my finished block 4 for June.

Squeezing in a little sewing and preping time here and there, I am slowly working on block 5 ... determined to have the quilt top together be this Christmas.

How is your progress going in our Christmas workshop?  There's no time like the present to create those handmade gifts and decorations.

Merry Christmas 2020
