I made my grandaughter an advent calendar yesterday
My daughter & i decided rather than buying lollies or small toys to go int the grandchildren's calendars that i would make snowmen to go into the pockets & they would move them along to each pocket to count down the days.
Just this morning I finished the last of 3 washcloths for this month. Teamed with a fragrant bar of soap, these will make great little stocking fillers for family.
What do you have planned for December?
If you're in a little bit of a panic with a list of gifts still to make, why not join our Workshop in 2019 and make an early start on your gift stash. For now, there is still time for a few small merry makes so relax and enjoy the Season.
Yes, I'm finally beginning the christmas gifts!!! I meant to begin on this sooo much earlier (like January), but its been one of those years ....... meantime I'm working on this knitted cowl for the daughters partner. Lets hope I get alot more completed in the next month!
I know I finished my item very early in the month... but as I stitched it last night at FNwF... I didn't want to forget to add it here. Too see all the pic's...just go HeRe.
THANKS again Narelle ( & all the elves) for the motivation each month... xox
I finished another mug rug using the "Snowman" digital stamp from The Paper Shelter. (I am happy to say the one I made last month washed beautifully. The black ink from the inkjet printer did not wash out of the fabric the stamp was printed on.) Now to decide what to create for March... Thank you for the workshop, Narelle. -Renee
This month, I finished this mug rug that I hoped to finish last year. The "Snowman" is a digital stamp from The Paper Shelter. I read that the black ink in most inkjet printers is permanent (though the color ink may not be, depending on the printer.) So, I printed this digital stamp onto a sheet of fabric, colored it with crayons and heat set the color following the guidelines found in a couple of tutorials on-line. Snowflakes and the words were hand embroidered. I plan to wash this one before adding it to the gift box, just to make sure the printer ink is colorfast. I hope so, as a similar mug rug is planned for next month. I will let you know then. -Renee
After almost burning my fingers on my too hot porridge bowl this morning, I promised myself some sewing time today ... 2 bowl cozies later and I haven't really saved my own fingers just yet.
You see I had the fabric cut before Christmas to make them up as gifts ... but ran out of time. These 2 will be off to their rightful owners on Monday as belated stocking fillers so I'm sharing here for my January make.
Who else has an item that didn't quite make the finish list for 2017 ... Or have you made an early start for 2018? Make yourself at home here in our 1XiaM workshop with fellow crafty elves, share your makes and look forward to a stress free Christmas 2018.
