Crazy Quilt Stocking

This month I made progress on a crazy quilt stocking for my eldest son.

The first addition was "Magical Ride" from the Stoney Creek Collection: Cool Friends Book 211. I stitched the mirror image of the chart so it would better fit a patch on the stocking. I used waste canvas to keep the stitches even. It was my first time using Kreinik Blending Filament. To be honest, it seemed a bit like embroidering with Christmas tree tinsel. I love pizazz it added. It was also my first time using a Turkey Stitch to make the fringes at the end of the scarf.

This is the pieced stocking prior to embellishment.

In my last update, I thought my Sun, Sand, and Sea BOM would be a Christmas gift project. However, I learned that the BOM goes through next February. That means it will be a birthday gift instead, so the updates will not be shared here in the workshop.

There are only 6 months until Christmas, so I need to get busy. (So many plans, so little time...) -Renee

New Project

Nothing like the feeling of a new project ... do I have lots of "started projects"?  YES 😆   I always have something I feel like working on ... or that's my excuse.

This one is 'A Holly Cottage Christmas' by Michelle Ridgway and is for a Stitch-a-long group. Lots of inspiration to keep at it! and I can share each month in our workshop 😊  So far I've been doing lots of prep and need to quickly finish the applique/stitching for the first block.

In JuNe

This months item is another little gift bag. This time the embroidery is "Candles" which I coloured in, but the bag pattern is the same.
I have now added it to the gift box so I am in good shape for Xmas.
Thanks Narelle for the encouragement to make a gift / item each month.

A Flying Start

Welcome 2017 and a big welcome back to our workshop for another year of creativity, friendship and a head start on gifting and decorating for Christmas 2017.

Already January has been a busy month ... we welcomed a new grandson to our family ... first child for our daughter and hubby ... meet Parker.

My sewing priority has been working on a quilt for him ... seen here on my blog ... and of course back to work but once routine is established (is that at all possible?) there will be Christmas sewing and knitting and crochet. Always need more dishcloths, washcloths etc.

Same rules for the workshop in 2017:

#  Make an item to decorate or be gifted  OR  make progress on a long term Christmas project

#  Post with a pic (unless it's a secret) on our blog each month from the 25th

#  Don't stress if you miss a month ... I'm sure that will happen to me too

#  If using labels at the bottom of your post, please use the month/year provided and your name or blog name

#  As you make a post each month, I will be adding a letter to your link on the right sidebar as an added insentive to keep in touch

Happy Christmas Crafting
