December finish

I did have a finish but forgot to post it.

A 10 minute table runner which i'm not entirely sure takes only 10 minutes. :)

A December Finish and a Lost Set

 Hello There!

I finished these mittens just in time for them to go on the tree!  This is my third set to have stitched up!

This was my first set.
My second set is lost...
Sadly, I misplace this set....
But, as I tell my husband, "They'll turn up!"
I hope....😏

I also finished some Christmas gifts!
This apron is for my sister - her creativity is in the kitchen.
I made this small table topper for Mama's new home in San Diego using  Melva Loves Scraps Shoo Fly block pattern for the center.
I simply added borders, binding and presto!  Thank you, Melva!
These oh so basic gift bags finished off my Christmas sewing for the week!

Take good care!

Welcome December

Good afternoon fellow elves.  I've been missing in action due to simply being bogged down in life with crafting and blogging slipping to the bottom of the list.  With the dawning of December it's time to dust off the sewing box and put a little jingle in my step.

This little guy is Belvedere the Rustic Reindeer and will be part of a Secret Santa gift at our local patchwork day. I have a second reindeer in progress for myself.

Thankyou to those who have continued to share their lovely makes within our little group, it's always a pleasure to see what you've all been up to....not long now.

Catching Up and Moving Forward

Hello There!

Life has been a bit hectic since I last posted, but now it's very slow.  Since July I've been making more frequent trips to El Paso to help take care of my parents, at times spending a night or two with them.  In late September, they along with my sister and her husband relocated to San Diego.  Alas, how I miss them!

In the interim since my last post, I finished this mitten set,

and this set!

I'm now stitching up this set.
We went to Mama's house to clean out her pantry
and I found this tray there.
I brought it home.
Reminds me of her.

Even though the month is almost over, I'll be choosing the
annual Christmas gifts to make for my granchildren.
I'm way behind schedule,
but I'm sure I'll be able to make them something they'll enjoy!

Take good care and Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate!

A Mini Quilt

My July Christmas project is this little mini-quilt
from Kim Diehl's book Simple Whatnots.

In taking it around my home for a "photo shoot"
I've discovered that I really like it where it's at
so:  is it a Christmas gift?.....

....or practice for making a Christmas gift?!?
<wink>

Happy gift-making!

July Progress

What nicer way is there to spend the cold evenings? Watching our athletes give there best while knitting or crocheting knee rugs and keeping my lap warm at the same time. I'm about 3/4's of the way with this first half of my knitted circular rug.

Christmas gifts and using up my wool kit stash ... win win. You know when you see a project and it begs to come and live at your house? The least I can do is give them the oportunity to be loved.

Another Mitten Finish

 Hello There!

Thank you all so much for your kind welcome into this talented group of Christmas bloggers!

I did finish another wool Christmas tree decoration!  This time it's the actually Christmas tree one.  Interestingly enough, I hadn't stitched on it for awhile, so I struggled with "relearning" the blanket stitch.  Hmmm....

All year round, I crochet granny square dishcloths to give as gifts to my precious doctor's office staff and to members of various groups in which I participate.  Here are some I finished last month.

It's also that time of year when I choose which toy to make for each of my four grandchildren.  This month I'm hoping to flip through my patterns and pick a "stuffy" and perhaps even kit each one!

What are you up to?

WoRKinG with Felt...

A Wendy Williams needle case is my project finish this month...
It's it glorious wool felt & in a pretty PINK & Purple colour...

And this was my project for MAY which I somehow forgot to add to the group...

Thanks Narelle...

Crochet or Knit - June Progress

After a few starts and pull-outs and start again, I'm finally on track with 2 woolen projects for Christmas gifts. I don't think I've shared my first finish ... the pattern is HoundsTooth or Cat's Tail or ElephantsTrunk. You can read more about it on my blog.

The next 2 are kits from BHG.  I really wanted to knit a rug on circular needles, however I'm running out of room on the needles and am waiting for an order or a longer set to arrive ... they're 10mm.

The other I am following the knitted pattern with a 15mm crochet hook ... not much to show yet. As our school term wrapped up I've been working extra days and haven't had the urge to pick up a project.

One more kit to go once these are finished ... will it be a knit or crochet?

June finishes

This was a free pattern on the internet that i traced out several years ago & finally got around to stitching last year & now it's finally off my ufo pile. :)

I stitched this The Birdhouse by Natalie Bird pattern back in 2019

and this one in 2020(also by Natalie Bird) & now they are both ready to hang this Christmas.

Happy Stitching,

May and June Finishes

Hello all!
I'm here today with lots of finishes, including
ones for May and June.  I didn't get anything
made for April but posting for May just slipped
right on by me so it's time to make up for that!

I finally stumbled across a panel that I just
could not say no to.  Not only did I grow up
on a large farm but today I have a huge
garden and lots of chickens.  You could say
I'm a Farm-to-Table foodie fanatic!
So I bought two panels.

Quilting a whole set of 4 placemats at
once is not a bad way to go!  Within 24
hours, I had all 8 quilted and one set bound
and complete.  (A person could get a lot of
gifts done this way!)

Admittedly, it took me a few more weeks to get
around to binding the second set while I
deliberated on which binding I liked more.

One set is for a gift, the other is on our own table.

Next I designed and made two patriotic table runners.

I'm not sure if I'll wait till Christmas to gift the
first, or maybe surprise the recipient now?

I am keeping the second as I made
it specifically to fit our entry table.
(Is anyone sensing a theme here?  LOL)

These went together so easily, mostly with
the quilt-as-you-go method, so I created a
little tutorial on my blog if you are interested.
I'm planning on doing more for other holidays.
They're a great scrap buster--fabric and batting.

In other news, I sold a few quilts and am working on
two now; I entered two in a charity contest--one of
which took first place out of 100 entries!  I shipped
off 3 baby quilts for another charity; and for a little
extra fun, I took my machine outside one particularly
beautiful day and made a table topper to match the
quilt currently on our bed (using the HST trimmings
from that quilt).  I'm definitely keeping busy in the
sewing room but hopefully July will have me back
to posting in a more timely manner!
Will be watching for everyone's projects!

Happy gift-sewing!
