A New Start

I thought I would be able to share my finished red dishcloth ...

but I wasn't happy with my casting on and then when I made a 2nd mistake in the pattern ... I pulled it out and started again ... still with red. A new cast on method (happy this time) but lack of concentration and another mistake so ...

pulled it out again, put the red ball away and made a fresh start ... new colour ... new pattern (thanks for adding the link Jo) ... new start and a finish for October.

Happy Christmas Crafting ... it's not long now.

Christmas Table Runner

I know many of you have sewing retreats and I'm no exception.  We usually take a gift along for a secret swap and this time, I have made a Christmas Table Runner.

I purchased a Christmas Embroidery Card for my machine, and I was itching to do something with it. I selected a beautiful Gold Metallic Thread and embroidered 6 Christmas motifs.

A simple stipple in each embroidered block, straight line quilting in the red blocks and using my Westalee Ruler Foot, I did a pretty pattern in the coloured squares.  You can see the quilting a bit better on the reverse.

Just a simple project but I think with the quilting, it came up really nice.  Next time I will do the Christmas Embroidery in colour and see how that goes.

It's A Start

My good intentions of having a make for this month were just a little too late. I've made a start on my plan for dishcloths for added gifts ... if only my eyes would stay open long enough at the end of the day.

Our daughter's wedding earlier this month was a beautiful day shared with family and friends ...

I intended to post sooner but was distracted by this little charmer ...

So back to the knitting tonight while watching some football and hopefully I can pop back by the end of the month to share a finish.

Happy Christmas Crafting
I actually have a finish this month. I started these stitcheries at the end of last month & have had the embroidery done a little while. Suddenly i realised the next day was the 25th & they weren't put together. Last night i got busy & completed them. :)
Just a day late in posting. I was to tired last night to pot them.

Happy Stitching,

June and August

What can I say?
My brain seems to have gone on leave
and it forgot to tell me
leaving my body wandering along oblivious
and doing quite daft things!

I really thought I had posted June's item here
but it seems not
so here it is now :)

The last stitched part
of this year's longer-to-do project
My label :)

Next is to put it all together
hope my brain hangs around for that :)

 plus
my item for August
a simple stitchery designed by Gail Pan

I did have an item finished for July
though I'm having some difficulty getting good photo's
so hopefully that will show up sometime this month too :)

So sorry Narelle for being all over the place with my showing and telling!

May you all have a lovely jingly-making September

August Stitching

August just rushed by me. I didn't get anything done of my Christmas stitching until yesterday when i started this.
3 little ornaments.

Happy Stitching,

August item

The last day of August, and I almost forgot to post the item for the month.  I have knit a scarf which will be to find  under the Christmas tree. I hope the young recipient will like it.

I enjoy to see all the lovely Christmas items you have made!

Santa and the Mouse is Done!

I missed posting in July, as life was just too busy.

This month I am thrilled to say I finally finished cross-stitching the Heaven and Earth Designs retired freebie chart of Santa and the Mouse. (It is a smaller section of this chart.)

I also added a Christmas tree seam and an angel seam to a crazy quilted stocking for my youngest son.

Next month, I hope to have more finishes. I have a few items that are all stitched and just waiting for me to pull out my sewing machine to transform them into gifts.

Narelle, thank you for offering this blog. It is so nice to have so much progress on Christmas gifts and projects before the end of November this year.

Santa's Ride

Do you realise its only 4 months (17 weeks) to the big day...arghhhh I'd better get on with things......

I have almost embroidered all the blocks in my Santa's ride project, only 3 to go.

I'm onto the white snow scenes now and here are the latest two...

BLOCK 16

BLOCK 17

I've actually started to piece the finished blocks together so that I can add the white window framing to see what its going to look like.

Here is the top half with my bias binding across the centre line, there will be more binding going down each vertical join so that it forms the window pane.

TOP HALF OF PROJECT

Hopefully it will be starting to take shape by my next posting, wish me luck :)

Happy Sewing

It's a little one this month

I've been busy making lots of little things. I did enjoy making these cross stitch ornaments.
Some of my makes cant be shown until December though. This will have to do for this month.

For August

I finished the embroidery of a Xmas piece by Crap-Apple designs... called Be Merry Stocking.
I haven't decided what I will make yet... I have a few ideas... but I will think on it some more before I decide.
Thanks Narelle for keeping me motivated.

Quiet In The Workshop

Helloooo .... yes it's me .... chief elf :o)  My sincere apologies for being such a slack chief around the Christmas workshop lately .... just time being gobbled up by all the 'life' stuff I'm afraid .... and that 4 letter word 'work' .... and DD's wedding coming up in less that 2 weeks now!  Any crafty time has been wedding decorations and one other monthly sewing target.

2015

However I am remaining positive and am sure Christmas gift making will return with still a few months yet to add to my stash ... it's never too late to get ahead, right?

Thank you to those lovely elves who continue to make and share your Christmas goodies here with everyone .... lots of gorgeous, sweet, clever and cheeky inspiration.

Happy Christmas Sewing .... looking forward to your August posts.

2 Xmas Gifts for July.

Here are two gifts made this month. They have already gone to a new home as part of a Xmas in July parcel.

A Xmas tree ornament and a Snowman table runner.
Felt great to have some finishes after a couple of months of just working on long-term projects.
Hopefully will be back again next month. Happy stitching till then........
