2 Xmas Gifts for July.

Here are two gifts made this month. They have already gone to a new home as part of a Xmas in July parcel.

A Xmas tree ornament and a Snowman table runner.
Felt great to have some finishes after a couple of months of just working on long-term projects.
Hopefully will be back again next month. Happy stitching till then........

My Xmas in July makes for this month

We were all so busy making and posting off our gifts. I know my partner, Cheryl, loved her gifts.
Here is what I made....
H...for HELPER.

T...for TREE.

S...for SNOWMAN.

Christmas in July

Merry Christmas in July to all our busy little elves. Life seems to have been extra busy for many this year and we all seem to put our sewing and creating to the bottom of the 'to do' list ... me included. With my daughters wedding coming up in early September (less than 6 weeks away - eeeek!) hubby and I are busy outdoors when we can to make the place look spic and span for the ceremony here at home.

Christmas in July for our little local sewing group meant some last minute sewing for some. The challenge was to make our 12 1/2" blocks from our 2014 Christmas swap into a finished project to show and tell. This photo is a collection of the completed items from those who were able to attend.

Did anyone else have celebrations/outings for July? Perhaps you would like to share.

Even though we're a little quiet here in the workshop, I hope you can find a little 'crafty' time and stitch away at those long term projects or add that finishing touch to a smaller item. There's still plenty of time to add to your gift stash and spread the handmade joy at Christmas.

Progress on Embroidery Projects

This embroidery will be used as the back of another tissue pack cover. The pink background was painted as part of the free Intermediate Crazy Quilt Class 102: Working with Paint, Dyes and Inks.

I also pieced a crazy quilt stocking featuring a cross-stitch of Santa from an Alma Lynn pattern that I stitched up at least a decade ago. I hope to have embroidery completed to share next month.

And, I finished page 3 of the retired Heaven and Earth Designs Freebie Santa and the Mouse pattern I have been working on. This is how it looked on June 24th.

Baby, it's hot outside!

With temperatures in the 90s not much is being done here creatively speaking, except some cross stitch and sock knitting. I avoid anything that requires me to drag out the iron so my Christmas sewing projects have been postponed a bit. I added another section to the Scandinavian Christmas sampler and stitched another Advent Animal.

Garden Progress

Merry half way through the year to all.

Not only has there been progress in my outdoor garden, my Merry Christmas Garden-block 2 is slowly blooming from this in March

to the month of June ... yay!

Have you finished a gift or decoration ... or made progress on a Christmas project?

Happy Christmas Sewing

Patriotic Tote Bag

This month, I combined a red, white and blue crazy quilt block and a couple of patriotic fabrics to make a tote bag following this tutorial. It will be a gift for someone that served in the Army.

I also made a fair amount of progress on my free Heaven and Earth Designs Santa and the Mouse chart. This is how it looked on May 25th.

Oh dear, May already!

I don't know where the time is going, but it sure goes by fast. I managed to stitch another part of the Scandinavian Christmas cross stitch project. I love Dala horses.

My Xmas items for May

Here are what I have done this month to put away for Xmas gifts at some point. Wether it be for a swap or Xmas gifts I am not sure.
2 very quick table runners

How cute are these Bon bons. You could fill them with chocolates, lollies or anything else.
They are so fun

Oh my gosh it's May

I dropped active input on my reindeer temporarily
and did a wee bit of simple stitching instead;
Santa chugging away in his well-loaded choo-choo :)
It's amazing how quickly straightforward
back stitching with a variegated thread stitches up,
(none of that fiddly choosing and switching colours business!)
perfect for a little boost to feeling productive

Each month I am more and more awed
by the fabulous and original
Christmassy items being shown here,
you guys are amazing!
There are going to be huge grins come December ;)

Wishing you all a sparkly June :)
