It's still January.........

I have just finished this Xmas ornament tonight in time to post a finish for January.
Have quite a few Xmas stitcheries traced so more of these ornaments to follow I think.
See you next month.
Thank you Narelle for setting this blog up so we can post our finishes.
Hugs Noela.

My January item

After reading about 'One Christmas Item a Month'  I signed in last week. So I had to find an item I could make before the beginning of February. Yesterday I chose for a biscornu and finished it today. It was a bit stressing, for the blue linen was difficult to x-stitch. But I think it will do. Another item to hang in our tree next X-mas.

The tray where my Christmas items are during the other months of the year is becoming to small.

I hope to begin the first block of A Scandinavian Christmas next month. I have the pattern for several years and bought some Lynette Anderson fabric last year. I love the pattern and hope the quilt will be finished by December.

Thank you, Narelle, for the opportunity to be an elf this year.
Sorry, my English isn't superb, but I hope you can still read it.

Have a nice month, Christmas elves,

Cisca

My January item

My contribution this month isn't sewn, but knitted. This is the first Christmas gift for 2014 ready to be put into the gift box. The trousers - made of 100% merino wool - is for my niece's son.
Thanks Narelle for hosting this fun for another year!

My Project For The Year...

For my '1 Xmas Item A Month' during this year, I am going to be working on this gorgeous wall quilt from The Birdhouse...
Thank you Narelle for allowing me to be part of this blog, and giving us the option of working on a larger project during the year... I'm certainly going to love sharing my progress with this one... I've been wanting to make it for a while now...

So my 'item' for January was to prepare my stitching fabric and trace up all the designs... they are now in a pile ready to stitch throughout the year.

Ho Ho Ho January item

Sorry I am late posting, but better late than never, just back from holiday trying to avoid life but couldn't do it any longer.

Hello elves what a fabulous idea to prod us along to Christmas. Well  aren't we all going to be organised this Christmas.

Thanks to Narelle for hosting this.

My finishes for January are....

Making Spirits Bright Stitchery by The Birdhouse

Block one for North Pole Quilt

See you all in February, Happy Stitching
Sharon.

January Item

Here is my January item! It is a small embroidered Santa quilt. I embroidered the Santa back in December 2012 and forgot all about it. It ended up in a tub in the garage and I did not find him again until after Xmas 2013. I pinned him, quilted him with perle cotton, and bound him. I don't know if I will keep him or gift him, but either way he is ready for Xmas 2014. 1 down 11 to go!

January item

I'm running late this month after just getting back from holiday.  The red wool coat ornament is from a kit here and I had competed the polar bear and glove from the kit last year.  This year I plan to keep working my way through my collection of Christmas kits and patterns :) Wendy xx

January from Sharm

My apologies that I'm a couple days late getting my post up...... unfortunately, that may happen from time to time depending on .... well, lots of things actually.  But here you go, having only
signed up a couple days before the 25th I have managed to get 1 little pot mit completed, and I have actually pulled out a couple of Christmas patterns/ kits that I bought a couple of years ago and would really like to have made up for Christmas 2014.  So these will be my main xmas items, and I will also endeavour to get at least one other small item that is set aside for the Christmas stocking bundle.  Last time I took part in this (2012), every item I made for Christmas ended up being given as birthday gifts etc during the year........ with that knowledge, I know I really need to make at least 2 if not 3 of everything this time LOL.

January's Start

I am using One Xmas Item a Month to, hopefully, complete a project I started 12 months ago - "Down Reindeer Lane" from Michelle at Rag-Tag Stitchin' -
This was the first block I finished last year.
And this one I have just finished for this month.  Hopefully a few months down the track and I might have this gorgeous little quilt finished. Cheryl

Longer term project...

What a bunch of clever, industrious elves. If this is January can't wait to see November! I thought I would share a long term project with you all - Anni Downs Christmas Story. I received this BOM for Christmas 2012 (my present to me) but hadn't done anything with it until this year....

That's the progress so far and I'm just about to start on the next block.

See you all in Februray..

Melanie

My first Xmas project for 2014.

Wow!  You have all been so creative this month, and congratulations to those who have finished off previous years Xmas UFOs - that is a great feeling.  I did that a few years ago and was so happy when I was finally able to display them around our house the following Xmas.
My project for January is just a small one, which I found in a magazine that came out from England a few weeks ago.  I promise to do better next month!

First Xmas finish

I wasn't a very good elf last year, but this is a new year and a new start.
First finish for the year, my Christmas table runner.

Enjoying all the great projects everyone has shown. Lots of inspiration.
Thank you,
Elyte

January finish

This is my first ever post for 1 Xmas item a Month. Thank you for letting me join in the fun. I'm pleased I'm not the only one showing something that wasn't quite finished for 2013 LOL. So here's my contribution.....

a wall hanging from Lynette Anderson called Christmas Fun. It has been a while in the making but apart from a label it's ready to go.

Michell's January 1 Xmas Item A Month

These are some mini Christmas stockings I have made that will grace my house this Christmas and not made with one bit of Christmas fabric.
I do like them.

Hohoho & a Merry New Year!

Hi there wee elves.....................

So cool to see all the lovely makings. Isn't it fabulous to have this blog as a little prod to keep us all moving towards making & gathering Christmas goodness!
The following photo is what I have made for our first month, it is actually the second one I have made as I loved the first one so much I decided to make another to gift a friend. I have more details about the pattern etc on my blog, quiltmekiwi.

Checkout the embellishments I have used for the snowman's tummies............domes, a rusty safety pin & vintage button, plus some Parisian Essence for the primitive look that I love so much.
I also used burnt orange wool felt for their noses.

I look forward to my monthly visits.......................................

January Ornaments

Good Morning, Good Morning ... I'm so excited to pop in here this morning and see all the elves up and posting their lovely creations for our very first month in the new workshop.  Thank you all so much for your heart warming comments about 1 Xmas Item A Month and for joining me in this wonderful venture to enjoy a little bit of Christmas Cheer all through the year. I feel blessed that a small idea between a few bloggy friends a couple of years ago has grown to hosting our very own Elf Workshop where we can share, admire, encourage and enjoy great friendships. xx

So what did I finally get around to making? I thought it time to finish off a couple of ornaments that have been cut out since 2009, oooops!  These are from Marg Low Designs and were a kit in an online stitching day I had signed up for.  The bigger of the 2 will have to wait for a nice button or something to adorn the centre.

Now I'm going to have to find somewhere to store my finishes .... let me think .... somewhere safe and clean where I won't forget where I put them!

I've also signed up for Gail Pan Designs "A Merry Christmas Garden" BOM so that will be a progressive project through the year and I'll share (all going well) some progress each month too.

Merry Christmas Sewing in 2014 everyone.   >^..^<

January Christmas Items.....

It is so fun seeing so many Christmas items already being done....

My contribution is actually UFO's that I hadn't managed to finish last year... they didn't need too much doing to them....

First up is some pot mats... I rather like these fussy cut mittens....

.. and then I needed to add tags to this wallhanging .....

... all I need to do is find or make a nice rod.... but I have a few months for that....

Righto, Gotto Go...need to look up what I will make for next month....

Three Items

As one of the elves in this group I wanted to THANK Narelle  for hosting again in 2o14.
I made a few small items for Xmas this month... tree ornies.

Hugs xx

January Item from Maria in NC

I finally finished these stitched bird ornaments, they have been languishing in my UFO stash for a few years (blush). The bird patterns are from "So September" the rest is my idea. The size of the hoops is 6", the bird motives are 4".

My crosstitch Robin for January finish

I have had this cross stitch half finish for 6mths and decided to finish it off last night,i am so pleased with the way it turned out, that i am sure i will be making more, its a pattern called Robin and is out of the Cross Stitcher issue 258.
cheers shez xx

January Item.

I'd started these little stitcheries before Christmas but didn't get them done in time for Christmas. I put them aside to finish off for January's 1 Xmas item.
Happy Stitching,

January item

For my January finish,I made these 2  Christmas tablecloths. The first one will fit our  outdoor table or our dining table, so will be useful whatever the weather.

With the piece I cut off the length I made another table cloth to cover the outdoor "coffee table" which the Grandies sit at when there are a lot of us together.  I made it fitted, to hopefully prevent it being pulled, and things ending up on the floor.

At least the tables will be ready next Christmas.

A finish or maybe three

Good morning and how nice it feels to be posting some finishes for Christmas in January . My finishes are very small but I am so pleased to have them done .
Oh gee this is not the best photo of this little felt ornament , since Christmas is long gone I hung it on my poor old plant that has seen better days .
Another felt ornament .
Now this last little ornament has been partly made for well over a year and I kept coming across it so a couple of days ago I made the small effort it took to complete this cute design by Gail Pan.
Thanks Narelle for hosting this monthly event and I look forward to lots of finishes even if they are small :-)
 Have a great day .

Grand Opening

Will you be ready for Christmas 2014?

It's never too early to start ... is it?  If you found yourself wishing for more time to make handmade goodies for Christmas ... (I still did) ...  then this may be the group for you.

Come along and join our band of crafty elves as we make at least 1 item each month to be put away ready for Christmas 2014.  The item can be for yourself to decorate or be used ... or a gift for giving.

The rules are simple:

1       a:    Make an item which you will use as a decoration in your home at Christmas or

b:    Make an item to be given as a gift at Christmas or

c:    Choose one large project for the year and post your progress each month.

2       Post a picture of your item/s on this blog between the 25th and end of the month.

3       No stress allowed  :o)  Skipped a month? No problem ... it's never to late to join in.

I know I thoroughly enjoyed sewing along with all the elves last year and would love to have you all join in for another year of merriment in the Xmas workshop. New elves are most welcome.

So, this is the part I hope I can get right. Leave a message or email telling me you would like to be a 1 Xmas Item Elf and I shall send you an invite to participate on this blog. This way you're not waiting on me to post your pictures. Also you can keep an item a secret by only posting with no picture. As you sign up a link to your own blog will be added on the sidebar.

Happy Christmas Sewing.

May your year be filled with finishes!
