Snowman Mug Rug

This month, I finished this mug rug that I hoped to finish last year. The "Snowman" is a digital stamp from The Paper Shelter.

I read that the black ink in most inkjet printers is permanent (though the color ink may not be, depending on the printer.) So, I printed this digital stamp onto a sheet of fabric, colored it with crayons and heat set the color following the guidelines found in a couple of tutorials on-line. Snowflakes and the words were hand embroidered.

I plan to wash this one before adding it to the gift box, just to make sure the printer ink is colorfast. I hope so, as a similar mug rug is planned for next month. I will let you know then.

My first item in 2018 was a flat & TriAngle pouch set.
Thanks Narelle for the motivation to complete a gift a month.

January Bowl Cozies

After almost burning my fingers on my too hot porridge bowl this morning, I promised myself some sewing time today ... 2 bowl cozies later and I haven't really saved my own fingers just yet.

You see I had the fabric cut before Christmas to make them up as gifts ... but ran out of time. These 2 will be off to their rightful owners on Monday as belated stocking fillers so I'm sharing here for my January make.

Who else has an item that didn't quite make the finish list for 2017 ... Or have you made an early start for 2018? Make yourself at home here in our 1XiaM workshop with fellow crafty elves, share your makes and look forward to a stress free Christmas 2018.

Christmas 2018 - 1 Item At A Time

Jingle those Bells and Hang the Stockings ... our workshop is open once more as we work our way through 2018, 1 item a month, towards a stress free, handmade Christmas.

Jump right in beginning 25th January if you have a gift or decoration for Cristmas 2018 that you can share. Or if you have a long term Chrissy project, share your progress.

A big congratulations to Elf Cheryll who added to her gift box every month ... Well done Cheryll, I'm sure your gifts were well received.

Merry Christmas Sewing
